U.S. budget deficit rises to nearly $2 trillion

The Congressional Budget Office said the U.S. budget deficit reached $1.993 trillion in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, up 12% from the prior year and the highest since 2021. The report also said spending rose to $7.4 trillion while revenue increased to $5.4 trillion.
