U.S. deficit rises to nearly $2 trillion

The Congressional Budget Office said the U.S. budget deficit rose 12% in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, reaching nearly $2 trillion, the highest level since 2021. Federal spending rose to $7.4 trillion while revenue increased to $5.4 trillion.
