By Scott Lehtonen Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and other major stock indexes tumbled Thursday as Wall Street reacted to President Donald Trump's latest Iran comments, with Treasury yields and oil prices surging. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing declined after reporting September sales numbers on the stock market today. Ahead of Thursday's open, the Dow futures declined 0.8%, or roughly 400 points, as S&P 500 futures dropped 0.5%. Nasdaq-100 futures moved down 0.7% in morning trades. West Texas Intermediate crude futures surged more than 4%, to around $92.20 a barrel, after Trump said he no longer wants to make a deal with Iran to end the war. Recent news reports also said the Pentagon is preparing for more potential military strikes on that nation. Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury yield jumped to 5.33% as Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said more rate hikes are needed to combat persistent inflation. Finally, bitcoin moved down to around $82,300. Among exchange traded funds, the Invesco QQQ was down 0.6%. Further, the State Street SPDR S&P 500 fell 0.4% before Thursday's opening bell. But the company lowered its full-year profit forecast, as its North American business continues to underperform. The stock closed Wednesday nearly 28% off its 52-week high. Early Thursday, Nvidia chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, better known as TSMC, declined nearly 2% despite handily beating September and third-quarter sales estimates. Shares threatened to fall further below a cup-base entry at 479 and extend a losing streak to three sessions.
