Peru central bank unexpectedly holds rates at 4.25%

Peru’s central bank kept its benchmark rate at 4.25%, contrary to forecasts for a 25-basis-point hike.

25% on Wednesday, despite analyst forecasts for a 25-basis-point increase to end the rate-hold cycle. The bank said inflation remains above the target range and is still being pressured by the effect of weather conditions on domestic prices.
