By Robb M. Stewart OTTAWA--Canada's government is launching its seventh Canadian dollar-denominated green bond this week. The Department of Finance said the government plans to issue a new 10-year green bond, which comes on the heels of February's issuance of a 2 billion Canadian dollar (US$1.4 billion) 10-year bond. The government has committed to regular green bond issuances, which are used to fund programs aimed at growing the economy and creating jobs across the country. The green bond program was launched in early 2022 to help drive investments in renewable energy, climate action and environmental protection as part of a strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This week's bond will add to C$17.5 billion in green bonds issued since March 2022 under six previous transactions that issued bonds with maturities ranging from seven to 30 years. Write to Robb M.
