Nouveau Monde Graphite develops bio-based anode coating to cut CO2 emissions

Nouveau Monde Graphite Inc. has developed a bio-based anode material coating process with McGill University to cut manufacturing emissions. Internal estimates suggest Scope 1 CO2e emissions could fall by 130 kg per tonne of CSPG by replacing pitch coating. Lab testing under a leading cell maker’s protocol showed equivalent capacity, first-cycle efficiency and fast-charging performance versus standard coating. A patent application has been filed.
