European Stocks Set for Lower Open

European equity markets were poised to open lower on Wednesday as a rebound in oil prices, driven by ongoing threats to Middle East energy supplies, renewed concerns over inflation and the potential for higher interest rates. Investors also remained focused on developments in France after far-right presidential frontrunner Marine Le Pen unveiled plans to cut government spending, triggering a relief rally in French government bonds. Meanwhile, traders are awaiting August trade data from France and German industrial production figures for further clues on regional economic activity. On the corporate front, the Dutch government plans to cut its stake in ABN AMRO from 20.7% to 10.5% through its investment vehicle NLFI. In premarket trading, Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 futures fell 0.8% and 0.5%, respectively.
