AmTrust launches East Re property treaty reinsurer
AmTrust Financial Services has launched East Reinsurance Services, which will be led by AmTrust’s Kevin Sullivan and provide proportional treaty property reinsurance solutions across North America. The executive has over 30 years of experience underwriting and managing property treaty portfolios.
By Michael Loney Oct 6 (The Insurer) — AmTrust Financial Services has launched East Reinsurance Services, which will be led by AmTrust’s Kevin Sullivan and provide proportional treaty property reinsurance solutions across North America. Sullivan’s title and role have transitioned from head of excess and surplus lines property at AmTrust to head of property reinsurance at East Re. The executive has over 30 years of experience underwriting and managing property treaty portfolios across multiple market cycles. Sullivan joined AmTrust in 2024 to build its E&S property division.
Before that he most recently served as head of specialty property at Axa XL Reinsurance. East Re will initially focus on US property and specialty treaty reinsurance, with an emphasis on pro rata accounts serving segments such as property, high-value homeowners, specialty property, inland marine and builders' risk for E&S, specialty and small commercial writers. AmTrust said the new platform combines underwriting, actuarial, catastrophe modeling and claims expertise to support insurers. ” The launch comes against a backdrop of a softening property reinsurance market.
AmTrust said that East Re has developed a diversified portfolio strategy that balances catastrophe-exposed and less catastrophe-exposed business to support consistent performance through changing market environments. East Re plans to expand its capabilities beyond treaty property reinsurance in the future.
