CBOT wheat futures rise on Black Sea shipping woes, Saudi tender

Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed higher on Monday, driven by concerns over ongoing Black Sea supply disruptions and robust results from a Saudi import tender. Saudi Arabia purchased around 683,000 metric tons of wheat, exceeding the tender's sought amount. Weekly U.S. export inspections were strong.

CHICAGO, Oct 5 (Reuters) — Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures climbed on Monday on worries about ongoing Black Sea supply disruptions and strong results in a Saudi import tender, analysts said. A lack of progress in diplomatic efforts to restore normal shipping through the Black Sea has underpinned wheat prices.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Ukraine will double down on attacking Russian oil refineries in response to a new policy of airstrikes by Moscow Saudi Arabia said it purchased around 683,000 metric tons of wheat, exceeding the 535,000 tons it sought in a tender The USDA said 302,356 metric tons of US wheat was inspected for export last week, near the high end of a range of trade estimates Analysts polled, on average, expect the USDA to report that 43% of the US winter wheat crop has been planted as of Sunday.
