Japan Economy Minister: Excessively Loose Monetary Policy No Longer Needed
Japan's Economy Minister Minoru Kiuchi stated on Friday that the country is no longer experiencing deflation, and therefore does not require excessively loose monetary policy to pursue higher inflation. He also noted that monetary policy decisions fall under the jurisdiction of the Bank of Japan.
Japan is no longer in deflation and does not need excessively loose monetary policy to pursue a higher inflation rate, Economy Minister Minoru Kiuchi said on Friday. Kiuchi added that monetary policy decisions are the Bank of Japan’s jurisdiction, while declining to comment further.
