UK Watchdog Clears E.on Takeover of Ovo Energy
The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has cleared E.on's planned takeover of Ovo Energy, opting not to refer the deal for a deeper investigation after assessing potential impacts on competition in the domestic energy market.
The Competition and Markets Authority opened a merger inquiry a month ago to assess whether the planned tie-up could hurt competition in the UK domestic energy market. In a brief update on Thursday, the CMA said it had cleared the takeover and would not be referring it onward.
