NRC issues first US construction permit for GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 at TVA Clinch River

NRC issued a construction permit to TVA for a BWRX-300 small modular reactor at the Clinch River site in Tennessee; it is the first U.S. construction permit for the BWRX-300 design. TVA filed the application in April 2025; the reactor is designed for 300 MW capacity.
