Tropical Storm Rachel slightly stronger; forecast to become hurricane later today

The storm was located about 265 miles southwest of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, with maximum sustained winds near 65 mph and tropical-storm warnings in effect for parts of southwestern Mexico. The NHC said rainfall of 4 to 8 inches, with isolated totals of 12 inches, could bring life-threatening flooding and mudslides.
