UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham vows to create a national care service free at use

LIVERPOOL, England Sept 29 (Reuters) — British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said on Tuesday that his government would create a national care service, free at the point of use. Speaking at the Labour Party conference, Burnham said the plan would follow the party’s tradition of a system in which everyone contributes and everyone is covered. He said the service would be free at the point of use and that there would be no care charges out of people’s basic state pension. Burnham has said he would put the plans to voters at the next election.
