Sensex Falls for 2nd Day
India’s BSE Sensex closed about 0.3% down at 72,529.1 on Tuesday, its lowest since late March, marking the second session of losses. Market sentiment remained subdued amid elevated crude oil prices and global bond yeilds, persistent geopolitical tensions and continued foreign investor selling. Foreign institutional investors sold 53.53 billion rupees ($558 million) of Indian shares on Monday, taking September net sales to $2.17 billion after two consecutive months of net buying. Selling pressure was seen across most sectors, particularly financials and tech companies. Titan (-2.7%) led losses among stocks, followed by HCL Tech (-2.3%), TCS (-1.7%), UltraTech Cement (-1.6%), Hindustan Unilever (-1.5%) and Tech Mahindra (1.5%).
