Ukraine weekly power sales fall; DiXi Group cites cooler, cloudier weather
Ukraine’s electricity imports fell about 26% to 13.7 gigawatt hours in Sept 21-27, while exports fell 23.4% to 83.7 gigawatt hours, DiXi Group said, blaming cooler, cloudier conditions and rain midweek.
7 gigawatt hours, the DiXi Group think tank said on Tuesday. "Weather conditions had a significant impact on cross-border electricity trade. The reporting week was noticeably cooler and much cloudier, with rain midweek and clearer skies toward the weekend," it said in a report. DiXi said weather conditions lowered output from household solar power systems, which in cloudy conditions no longer fully cover daytime consumption or free up capacity for exports.
The structural surplus is supported not only by moderate seasonal demand and sufficient available generation, but also by a negative factor: a sharp decline in electricity consumption following missile attacks on energy-intensive industries, the Group noted.
