FTSE 100 Trades Higher

The FTSE 100 traded around 0.5% higher on Tuesday, supported by gains in healthcare and mining stocks. AstraZeneca and GSK both advanced more than 2%, while Antofagasta, Anglo American, Glencore, Fresnillo and Rio Tinto rose between 1.4% and 2%. Energy stocks lagged slightly, with Shell and BP underperforming as Brent crude remained higher on the day but below Monday’s peak. Utilities also weighed on the index, with National Grid falling 1.4%. In economic data, UK shop-price inflation eased in September, suggesting retailers continued to absorb some of the pressure from higher costs rather than passing it fully on to consumers. According to the British Retail Consortium, shop prices increased 1.4% year-on-year, down from 1.5% in August.
