China 10Y Yield Stays at 2025 Low

China’s 10-year government bond yield held steady at 1.67% on Monday, remaining near its lowest level since July 2025 as investors digested the outcome of the recently concluded Trump-Xi summit. The US and China unveiled a plan to reduce tariffs on roughly $30 billion worth of imports from each country while agreeing to extend their trade truce through January, offering some relief for bilateral trade ties. However, the summit stopped short of delivering major breakthroughs on key issues, including artificial intelligence cooperation and the Iran conflict. Moreover, Beijing's efforts to persuade Washington to scale back arms sales to Taiwan appeared to yield little progress. On the domestic front, industrial profits rose 15.7% year-on-year to CNY 5.27 trillion in the first eight months of 2026, slowing from a 17.6% increase recorded in the January—July period.
