Lavrov urges US to lift blockade of Cuba and strike it off terror list

At the United Nations on Sept 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called on the United States to end what he described as a “siege” of Cuba and ease trade restrictions on the Caribbean island. Lavrov also said the US should remove Cuba from its list of state sponsors of terrorism. The US has mounted a pressure campaign against Cuba that has largely blocked oil deliveries to the island, leading to crippling blackouts.
