Tropical Storm Gonzalo nears eastern Cabo Verde Islands

The National Hurricane Center said Gonzalo was 70 miles south of Sal, Cabo Verde, with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph. Tropical storm conditions are expected over portions of the islands through tonight.
