European cash markets finished lower: the Euro Stoxx 50 closed down 0.43 percent, the DAX closed down 0.57 percent, the CAC 40 closed down 0.52 percent and the FTSE 100 closed down 0.24 percent. UK volume leaders were Lloyds Banking Group down 0.51 percent, BP up 2.62 percent, HSBC down 0.98 percent, Shell up 1.7 percent and GSK down 0.48 percent. continental European volume leaders were UBS down 0.55 percent, Deutsche Telekom up 0.22 percent, Novartis up 1.16 percent, SAP down 1.22 percent and Nestle up 1.09 percent.
