EUROPE POWER — Spot prices rise on lower German wind supply

PARIS, Sept 24 (Reuters) — European spot prices rose on Thursday as German wind power supply was expected to plummet on Friday. The German day-ahead baseload contract rose 37.3% to €184 per megawatt-hour at 0731 GMT, LSEG data showed. The equivalent French contract rose 5% to €157.50/MWh, German wind power supply is seen dropping to 5.6 gigawatts on Friday from Thursday levels of around 28 GW, the LSEG data showed. Solar power supply in the country is expected to rise 3 GW to 14 GW, while demand is set to fall by 1.3 GW, easing some of the price pressure from lower wind supply, the data showed. French fundamentals were more sideways, with wind and solar supply up 810 megawatts and 390 MW respectively, and demand down just under 1 GW, the data showed. French nuclear availability fell by one percentage point to 71% of total capacity as the Blayais 2 reactor went offline for a planned outage.
