Swiss National Bank ready to intervene in forex markets, chairman says

BERN, Sept 24 (Reuters) — The Swiss National Bank is willing to intervene in the foreign exchange markets as necessary, Chairman Martin Schlegel said on Thursday, adding that uncertainty about inflation and economic development remained high. "We will therefore continue to monitor the situation and adjust our monetary policy if necessary to ensure appropriate monetary conditions," said Schlegel in comments prepared for a press conference in Bern after the central bank's latest interest rate decision. "We are also willing to intervene in the foreign exchange market as necessary," he added.
