South Africa 10-Year Bond Yield Higher
South Africa’s 10-year government bond yield rose above 8.80%, close to the highest since mid-September, supported by expectations of additional policy tightening. The South African Reserve Bank raised its repo rate to 7.25% as expected and signalled the possibility of further increases this year. Reserve Bank Governor Lesetja Kganyago said the central bank sees upside risks to inflation stemming from higher fuel prices amid the prolonged Middle East conflict.
