CHILE: President Kast at UNGA, Chile Joins Shield of Americas

* In a statement released last night, the government said that Chile would join the 'Shield of the Americas' to help in the fight against organised crime. It said that this would give it access to intelligence and data on organised crime and help in training for the police. The government will also seek to strengthen cross-border co-ordination with other countries in the region, including Argentina and Peru. * Today, President Kast remains in New York for the UNGA, where he will hold a working meeting with the World Bank's MD of Operations. He is also expected to meet with Venezuela's acting president Rodriguez tomorrow on the sidelines on the UNGA, alongside Foreign Minister Mackenna and Ambassador Tressler. This comes after the two countries said they would restore consular ties earlier in the quarter. * No macro data are due, with attention for the remainder of the week on the BCCh traders survey and PPI inflation tomorrow. * Buoyed by the decline in crude oil and higher copper prices, CLP has traded on a firmer footing this week, although this only unwinds a portion of recent weakness and keeps it close to 11-month lows against the greenback. For USDCLP, a bull cycle remains in
