POWER: German Coal, Lignite Burn Picks Up Y/Y in September

German thermal generation is running higher on the year in September, led by stronger coal and lignite output, amid higher net exports, slightly stronger demand and lower wind generation, Entso-E data showed. * German hard-coal generation averaged 3.2GW on 1-22 September, up 1.4GW on the year. * Lignite-fired generation averaged 7.84GW so far this month, up 1.72GW on the year. * Combined coal and lignite generation is tracking its highest monthly level since March. * Gas-fired generation averaged 4.48GW, down 143MW on the year. * Wind generation averaged 17.26GW, down 360MW on the year. * In contrast, solar PV output averaged 11.59GW, up from 10.08GW on the year. * Power demand averaged 51.96GW, broadly stable on the year versus 51.18GW. * German net power exports averaged 1.39GW so far this month, up from 1.23GW in the same period last year.
