POWER: Italian Power Futures to Open Lower
Italian power futures are set to open lower on softer EU gas prices. Italy October power settled at a 55.49/MWh premium to the French equivalent, after having narrowed from this month's high of 70.41/MWh on 10 September. * Italy Base Power OCT 26 closed up 0.6% at 203.24 EUR/MWh on 22 Sept * Italy Power Cal 27 closed up 0.4% at 149.04 EUR/MWh on 22 Sept * TTF Gas OCT 26 down 1% at 72.605 EUR/MWh * EUA DEC 26 up 0.3% at 87.02 EUR/MT * TTF front month is holding within yesterday's range after a drop to a low for the month and briefly below 70/MWh amid market optimism as talks continue on the sidelines of this week's UN gathering. * Algeria gas flow to Italy at Mazara are estimated at 32.8mcm/d today compared to the average of 28.2mcm/d over the previous week but 49mcm/d in August, Snam data shows. * EEX Italian power futures aggregate trading volume was at 3,557 the previous trading day, compared with 3,919 the day before. * The latest ECMWF model run suggests mean temperatures in Italy have been revised higher from the previous run and will remain above normal through the 18-day forecast period. * Mean temperatures in Italy are forecast at 20.78C on 24 September, compared with 20.2C
