MNI BI Preview Rpt— Sept 2026: Hold, Retain Tightening Bias
Download Full Preview Here: (includes sell-side views) * Bank Indonesia Preview with complete set of sell-side views, including ANZ's non-consensus rate hike forecast. * Bank Indonesia (BI) announces its decision Wednesday 23 September. Governor Destry said that the focus remains on financial stability and with USDIDR holding below 18,000 since the August meeting, it should be satisfied to keep rates unchanged at 5.75%. * September's Fed hike, higher US yields and global oil prices remain a challenge for the central bank, contributing to the recent USDIDR uptrend, as well as inflation rising above the 2.5% mid-point of the target band. * The rupiah has been stronger against a basket of currencies with the BIS IDR NEER up 0.3% m/m, the first gain since March, and 0.4% since the last BI decision. It appears to be stabilising after reaching a trough and is demonstrating that markets are confident that new Governor Destry is "business as usual".
