Turkey, US launch nuclear energy cooperation study on SMRs

Turkey and the US will conduct a technical study of US small modular reactor and fourth-generation nuclear technologies under a project funded by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) in collaboration with Turkey's state-owned Turkiye Nuclear Energy, the Turkish Energy Ministry said on Tuesday. The study will assess designs from four US companies and five fourth-generation technologies for potential deployment in Turkey, and is expected to last at least one year. The USTDA will fund the work under an agreement worth about $2 million.
