Hawaiian Electric receives first Tesla Megapacks for 40 MW Waena battery storage project

Hawaiian Electric has installed the first six Tesla Megapacks at its Waena Battery Energy Storage System in Central Maui. The 40-MW, 160-MWh project, which expects to be in-service in 2027, aims to shift renewable energy output to peak demand periods and support Maui's grid reliability.
