Student interest shifts from CS/AI to engineering: Nova Learning

The share of students naming Computer Science and AI as their primary academic interest fell from 42.3% in 2025 to 27.9% in 2026, while Engineering nearly doubled from 11.9% to 23.0%. This shift is attributed to uncertainty around software-industry employment and the changing role of AI in software development.
