Mitsubishi to triple stake in Ayala in $709.5 million Philippines push

Japanese trading house Mitsubishi Corp will more than triple its stake in Philippine conglomerate Ayala Corp to 15% for 44.5 billion pesos ($709.48 million), increasing its voting stake to 20% upon completion. The deal, struck at 650 pesos per share, represents a nearly 22% premium to Ayala's last closing price and deepens cooperation in consumer-facing businesses, with opportunities also to be pursued across Ayala's real estate and energy sectors. Mitsubishi expects the transaction to be completed within fiscal 2026.
