Ipsen shares slide 7% as FDA approves generic Somatuline

Shares in Ipsen fell about 7% after the US Food and Drug Administration approved Amneal's generic version of the company's blockbuster drug Somatuline. Both J.P. Morgan and Jefferies see the FDA approval as increasing pressure on Somatuline, with JPM noting it could cause low single-digit downward revisions to FY26 consensus forecasts.

Morgan said it sees the crystallisation of Amneal generics as a minor negative for Ipsen and said it could lead to low single-digit downward revisions to FY26 consensus forecasts. Jefferies said there is a longer-term risk from competitor Camurus' late-stage SORENTO trial, which could result in 10% downside to consensus profit forecasts for 2028 and 2029 if CAM2029 proves superior to Somatuline. P. Morgan reiterated its "neutral" rating and Jefferies its "underperform" recommendation for Ipsen.
