Mainova attends launch of Hanau gas-fired CHP plant
German utility Mainova AG executives attended an on-site visit to Hanau’s new combined heat and power plant ahead of the heating season. The facility now runs 24/7, supplying district heat for nearly 20,000 households in Hanau and Großkrotzenburg. Three hydrogen-ready gas engines deliver 30 MW thermal capacity and 30 MW electric capacity, supporting a coal exit tied to the Staudinger plant. The switch from coal to gas targets a 40% cut in CO2 emissions, equivalent to 45,000 tons per year.
