German government plans to cut taxes on gasoline by 17 euro cents per litre, sources say

BERLIN, Sept 18 (Reuters) — The German government has agreed to cut taxes on gasoline equivalent to 0.17 euros ($0.195) a litre in response to soaring fuel prices, people with knowledge of the matter said on Friday. The moves will see a 0.14 euro cut in energy tax and an additional 0.03 euro cut in sales tax, the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
