US Plains HRW Wheat — Basis bids mostly flat as sinking futures limit farmer sales

CHICAGO, Sept 18 (Reuters) — Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat were mostly unchanged around the southern U.S. Plains on Friday on slow farmer selling and light demand. Weaker futures prices this week have chilled farmer selling interest as growers are instead turning their focus to field work as they prepare to plant their next winter wheat crop. Chicago Board of Trade December HRW wheat futures were 13-1/2 cents lower near midday on Friday at $7.81 per bushel. Protein premiums for railcar HRW wheat to and through Kansas City were unchanged for all protein grades.
