Bowman says don't blame social media for SVB bank run
WSJ reports Fed Governor Bowman said the SVB bank run should not be blamed on social media.
Back in 2023, when Silicon Valley Bank failed and brought down Signature Bank and First Republic Bank in its wake, one of the biggest talking points was the risk social media suddenly posed for bank runs. The theory was that tweets and posts were helping fan the flames and contributing to the run.
