South Korea’s FLC buys up to 65,000 tons corn, traders say

HAMBURG, Sept 18 (Reuters) — South Korea's Feed Leaders Committee (FLC) purchased up to 65,000 metric tons of animal feed corn expected to be sourced from South America or South Africa in an international tender on Friday, European traders said. One consignment was bought from trading house Cargill in the combination of at an estimated outright price of $292.67 a ton cost and freight (c&f) included plus a $1.50 a ton surcharge for additional port unloading for 40,000 tons with the rest bought at a premium of 200.92 US cents a bushel c&f over the Chicago March 2027 Corn Contract. If sourced from South Africa, only 50,000 tons need be supplied. Arrival in South Korea was sought in one consignment around December 30 with shipment between November 11 and December 10 if sourced from the US Pacific Northwest coast, between October 22 and November 20 if sourced from the US Gulf, between October 17 and November 15 if from South America or between November 1 and November 30 from South Africa. Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later.
