EUROPE POWER — Lower renewable output across next week lifts spot prices

PARIS, Sept 18 (Reuters) — German power prices traded higher for next week as low renewable output is expected and dry conditions continue to reduce output at French nuclear power plants. The German Monday baseload contract was at €127.50 per megawatt-hour at 0809 GMT, up 5.8% from the price paid Friday for Monday delivery, LSEG data showed. The equivalent French contract was untraded, Wind conditions should weaken in Germany at the beginning of next week and remain low in France and Spain, increasing upward pressure on spot prices, EnergyScan analysts said. Dry conditions are also expected to persist with no significant rainfall forecast, raising risks of outages at French nuclear plants due to low water levels, EnergyScan said. The St Alban 1 reactor is expected to trim production by about 1 GW on Saturday due to environmental issues, while the Bugey 2 is completely offline until Monday, operator EDF data showed. The Golfech 1 reactor is expected to remain offline until Sept. 27 while the Chooz 1 and 2 reactors remain offline until the start of October, the data showed.
