Indonesia budget deficit hits 0.93% of GDP in Jan–Aug
Indonesia recorded a 240.1 trillion rupiah ($13.55 billion) budget deficit in the first eight months of 2026, equal to 0.93% of GDP, Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said.

Suahasil was this week named as President Prabowo Subianto's third finance minister in less than two years, after the president sacked Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
Suahasil was previously deputy finance minister. Purbaya implemented unconventional fiscal policies, but failed to allay growing market concerns about Prabowo's costly spending plans, political interference at the central bank and transparency issues at the stock exchange. com;)
