Exxon raises 2050 emissions forecast; expects slower coal decline

Exxon Mobil said in its annual energy outlook that coal’s decline by 2050 may be slower than previously expected and raised its 2050 global emissions forecast, warning the world risks falling behind decarbonization efforts.

ExxonMobil said in its annual energy outlook published on Thursday that the world is at risk of falling behind efforts to reduce carbon emissions by 2050, as coal burning could decline more slowly than previously expected. Exxon estimates coal will account for 15% of the mix.
