Intesa Sanpaolo shareholders approve share issue for BMPS bid

Intesa Sanpaolo shareholders gave near-unanimous backing for a new share issue needed to fund its €35 billion ($40.7 billion) takeover bid for Monte dei Paschi di Siena. The approval represented 63.88% of the company.
