GSK said the new format replaces the prior two-vial presentation that required manual mixing before administration. The company said the streamlined format removes that step for clinical settings in Japan.

GSK said the vaccine had previously been supplied in two separate vials and had to be manually mixed before administration. The new format removes that step and is intended to streamline use in clinical settings. Shingrix, a non-live recombinant sub-unit vaccine, has been approved in Japan for adults aged 50 and older.
