PwC projects global AI infrastructure spending could top $31T by 2050

PwC analysts project AI infrastructure spending could exceed $31 trillion through 2050 as data-center deal activity accelerates, according to Semafor Signals.

PwC analysts projected global AI infrastructure spending could exceed $31 trillion through 2050, as companies press ahead with a wave of data center deals. US chipmaker Qualcomm on Tuesday announced a large AI chip deal with Amazon, while TikTok is expanding data center capacity in Finland as part of an EU-wide, $14 billion initiative. Asia is also stepping up investment. The Philippines is rolling out an AI master plan this week, and Japan is adding another $60 billion to quadruple data center capacity by 2033.

PwC said the AI infrastructure boom is unusual because servers and GPUs need to be replaced regularly, which means investment is set to accelerate.
