FTSE 100 edges lower as consumer stocks weigh on energy gains

The FTSE 100 edged down on Monday, with weakness in major consumer stocks offsetting gains in energy shares. 3% as crude prices climbed. Investor attention stayed on the US-Iran conflict after reports said the US struck three Iranian oil tankers following attacks on US warships. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said a new nuclear agreement with Tehran may not be reached soon and suggested Washington could instead focus on eliminating Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
