BOJ rate hike in September projected by Takaichi adviser

Economic adviser Takuji Aida said the Bank of Japan is likely to raise interest rates in September and continue hiking about once every quarter through January next year.

The Bank of Japan is likely to raise interest rates in September and then continue hiking at a pace of once every quarter until January next year, Takuji Aida, an economic adviser to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, said on Monday. Aida, a reflationist widely seen as one of the most vocal opponents of BOJ rate hikes, made the remarks in comments reported on Monday.
