Live Cattle futures hold gains as beef export sales rise

Livestock futures traded two-sided ahead of the holiday weekend. October Live Cattle held above prior-week lows for marginal weekly gains, while weekly beef export sales rose 41% week-over-week to 12,900 metric tons.

Livestock futures experienced a two-sided trading session ahead of the holiday weekend.

October Live Cattle futures held above prior-week lows to maintain marginal weekly gains.

The daily livestock summary showed Choice cutout down $1.88 to $376.90, while weekly beef export sales rose 41% week-over-week to 12,900 metric tons.

Feeder Cattle futures also held above last week's low, hanging on to slight gains and positioning to snap a three-week losing streak as Feeder Cattle CVOL eased to 18.4%.

Meanwhile, October Lean Hog futures gave back early-week gains, supported by weekly pork export sales of 35,000 metric tons as Lean Hog CVOL ticked up to 21.7%.
