European cash markets close lower as Euro Stoxx 50, DAX fall

European cash markets finished lower: the Euro Stoxx 50 closed down 1.01 percent, the DAX closed down 1.17 percent, the CAC 40 closed down 0.79 percent and the FTSE MIB closed down 0.01 percent.

UK volume leaders were Lloyds Banking Group up 0.59 percent, Barclays up 0.82 percent, BP down 0.17 percent, Shell up 1.01 percent and HSBC up 1.62 percent. continental European volume leaders were UBS down 0.56 percent, Novartis down 0.39 percent, Nestle up 0.25 percent, SAP down 0.22 percent and Deutsche Telekom down 0.49 percent.
