Dow gains 100 points as Chicago PMI falls in August
The Chicago Business Barometer dipped to 47.1 in August from 57.6 previously, missing market estimates of 58.3.
U.S. stocks traded mostly higher this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 100 points on Friday.
Following the market opening Friday, the Dow traded up 0.19% to 53,673.21 while the NASDAQ slipped 0.01% to 26,541.21.
The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.09% to 7,737.82.
Leading and Lagging Sectors Communication services shares jumped by 1.1% on Friday.
In trading on Friday, information technology stocks fell by 0.3%.

Equities Trading UP FingerMotion Inc ( NASDAQ: FNGR ) shares shot up 309% to $0.71.
Shares of Quoin Pharmaceuticals Ltd — ADR (NASDAQ: QNRX ) got a boost, surging 43% to $7.39 following back-to-back pre-market updates detailing positive clinical trial results and a major institutional financing package.
Cyabra Inc ( NASDAQ: CYAB ) shares were also up, gaining 58% to $0.49 as the company secured a six-figure annual contract with a leading interactive entertainment company to protect its player community.
Equities Trading DOWN BioXcel Therapeutics Inc ( NASDAQ: BTAI ) shares dropped 73% to $0.20 after the company announced it filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.
Shares of Kaixin Holdings ( NASDAQ: KXIN ) were down 46% to $0.81.
Antelope Enterprise Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: AEHL ) was down, falling 35% to $3.30 after the company announced an $18.99 million private placement of 15 million Class A ordinary shares at $1.266 per share with warrants for 15 million shares at $0.50/share.
Commodities In commodity news, oil traded down 1.1% to $82.63 while gold traded down 0.1% at $4,661.10.
Silver traded up 3.2% to $71.675 on Friday, while copper rose 0.4% to $6.7175.
Euro zone European shares were higher today.
The eurozone's STOXX 600 gained 0.4%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index rose 0.6%, London's FTSE 100 rose 0.1%, Germany's DAX gained 0.5%, while France's CAC 40 jumped 1%.
Asia Pacific Markets Asian markets closed mostly higher on Friday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining 0.41%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gaining 0.08%, China's Shanghai Composite falling 0.11% and India's BSE Sensex gaining 0.43%.
