Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVL ) shares tumbled nearly 8% in premarket trading on Friday following its second-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings report, despite edging past Wall Street expectations on both profit and revenue.

However, Nicholas Mugalli, founder and CEO of World Trade Securities, urged investors to view the sharp post-earnings selloff as a long-term opportunity, characterizing the quarterly performance as an operational validation and asserting, “A trillion dollar company it is!” WOW!! $MRVL Q2 is an absolute operational validation of the multi year custom silicon and optical supercycle.

Headline revenue at $2.74 billion (+37% YoY) edged past consensus, while Non GAAP EPS printed at $0.94.

However, the modest 1.1% beat fell short of the blowout numbers demanded by investors after the stock’s massive rally of about 28% over the past month.

This collided directly with near-term margin pressures.

Marvell’s management guided third-quarter non-GAAP gross margins to 57.5%—58.5%, representing a sequential drop from the second quarter’s 58.9%.

Chief Financial Officer Dan Durn explained that the temporary headwind is primarily driven by product mix, as lower-margin custom silicon programs accelerate significantly in the second half of the year.

Management Optimism & Google Partnership Despite the market’s reaction to near-term gross margin contraction, Marvell’s leadership painted a highly bullish picture for future growth.

CEO Matt Murphy raised full-year fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to approximately $12 billion and fiscal 2028 guidance to $18 billion, anchored by a data center segment that surged 46% year-over-year to $2.17 billion.

Murphy also highlighted an expanded commercial agreement and warrant with Google parent Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG ) (NASDAQ: GOOGL ) spanning inference accelerators, storage controllers, and attached custom silicon.

Addressing the long-term scale of the deal, Murphy noted that reaching peak performance across these programs represents a “monster number” for the company, with the largest revenue impacts hitting in fiscal 2029 and beyond.

A Strategic Entry Point? While short-term traders took profits over margin mix concerns, market observers emphasize that Marvell’s expanding footprint in custom silicon, 1.6 Terabits optics, and scale-up switching positions the chipmaker for substantial long-term value creation.

How Has Marvell Performed in 2026? At the last check, the MRVL stock was trading 7.64% lower in premarket trading on Friday.

It was up 184.13% year-to-date, advanced by 222.84% over the last year, and rose 195.57% over the last six months.

It closed 1.49% lower at $241.45 per share on Thursday.

Edge Stock Rankings indicate that MRVL maintains a strong price trend in the short, long, and medium terms, with a solid growth score.
